Q: (1970 Chevelle SS VS 1969 Camaro Z28) Which Is Worth More And How Much Would Both Of Them go For ”PRICE”?
A: There are 100’s of things to consider especially which model. From a few hundred to 100,000 is only practical answer to your question.
Q: what is a better muscle car a 1970 mustang fastback or a 1967 camaro z28?
if they are stock
A: What do you mean by better. Faster? more valuable? best looking? more collectible?
For MY money, the Z28 wins on all counts.
Q: what size speakers fit inside an 1970 camaro?
what size speakers fit inside of a 1970 Z28/RS Camaro. Front and Rear. Please give me the link you found it on, or how you know. thank yall for the help.
A: go to crutchfield.com
Q: i sold my 1970 ss years ago,what a mistake,now i have a 80 z28,will it be a collector or not???
A: I own a shop, and do a lot of restoration work. I think the 80 Z-28 will be, and the reason I do is this; It’s a Z-28!!! Its pre-computer, and “any” classic car that doesn’t use a computer is going to go off the scale in value. Right now (since the economy is bad) the junk people are buying up every old vehicle they can lay their hands on. The price of metal has gone way up, and they are making some money off junk. I have a few old cars, and I think I need to hide them so people will stop coming by to ask if they are for sale. I own an 80 Malibu in great condition, and I get all kinds of people wanting to know if its for sale. I could have sold it at least 20 times in the past year. I also have a 79, and I’m going to have to cover it up to keep people from bugging me about it. With all the attention I’m getting; I know you will have something that will be worth a lot, as long as you keep it, and take care of it.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
Q: 1970 dodge challenger R/T 440 Six Pack top speed?
The title says it all. Also do you know any facts about these cars? Thanks
1970 Ferrari 246 GT
1970 fastback Mustang
1969 Camaro z28
1970 Corvette coupe
Thanks for your help
A: There is a friction/wind resistance that develops about 132 mph that is extremly difficult to overcome. The ferrari might make it past that majic window but I agree with the first answerer the z28 with a 302 kicked butt. The dodge if you could keep the carbs synced was a brute for shear hp.
Q: Trading my restored 1981 Camaro Z28 for a beaten-up 1969 Camaro SS.?
Yesterday one of my dads old friends who owns a wreaking yard asked me if i want to trade my 1981 Camaro Z28 that has been built to the bone for a 1969 Camaro SS that is in ok shape I have already seen it. Its in about the same shape that my 1981 was when I first got it.
My 1981 Camaro has a 435hp 350ci engine that cost me if i look at my sale records $2365.87 in total to build. Then the paint is a dark metallic red and the paint and all the materials in total cost me $951.73 in total to do the body work with the paint came around $1000. I have a Hotchkis Sport Suspension TVS system Part No. 80017 with Edelbrock Performer Shocks that cost my in total $1,658.67. That car sits on a set of 15inch American Racing TTD that came to $926.34 for the whole set with BF Goodrich Radial T/As that came up to about $100 a tire i don’t have the sales record on that. Then i rebuilt the Turbo 400 and replaced the brake pads for cheap fuck all. In total the car came up to about $6000 to build.
Do you think i should trade my tricked out 81 Camaro Z28 for a 1969 Camaro SS thats in ok yet kind of in sad shape that i know is fixable. The 69 Camaro also dose not have an engine in it but i have a 454 in my back yard that i was saving for a if i ever get a 1970 Chevelle but i think it would love to find a home in a 69 Camaro. Also i already have a 1971 V8 Vega Wagon Project on the go so i won’t be able to start working on it right away. I’m also helping a friend build a 1979 Camaro Z28 to the same specs I did mine. Do you think this would cause an car building over load. I need some opinions on this.
These are all really good answers for opinions I have nothing against any of them. I especially like the idea of keeping the engines and put the that 350 into the V8 Vega I’m building and still go forward with the 454 for the 69 Camaro. I have already confirmed the car is a real SS on the VIN # I will show you the actual car. Click on this link http://www.readytofix.com/Ad/1969_Camaro_Flood.htm and the actual car is further down the list that says 1969 SS – Insurance Flood Car – $3,100. Any other information you would like me to add just ask.
I have asked if I can do the trade for the 69 Camaro but I get to keep the 350 in my 81 Camaro and it was a no go.
A: Get the ‘69, that car will always be worth more and turn more heads than the ‘81 ever will. Slap that 454 in it and you will have one very sick ride. And if it’s a true SS, then you will command even more respect than the ‘81. Sounds like you built up a great ‘81, but if it was me, I’d let it go if I could get the ‘69 for a fair price
Q: 400 in a 86 camaro iroc z28?
Chevy 400 (6.6L) was made from i think 1970-1980. A lot of variation in terms of performance.
Looking to buy a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro z28 on craigslist.
The guy put in a 400 engine into this 86 camaro. He took the engine out of a late 70’s Chevy truck.
Has shorty headers, a new cam and lifters with 3.55 gears. 700R4 transmission and rearend.
According to many, the best possible 400 engine produces 265 horsepower and tons of torque. The same people say some 400’s produce only 170 horsepower, but still tons of torque.
Say this car does only produce 170 horsepower but a lot of torque, what do you expect the 1/4 mile time is. Cuz Im not buying a v8 just cuz its got a loud noise.
With the setup this guy has, is this car fast compared to a camaro with a 5.7L 350 V8. Which would win in the quarter mile drag?
A: These engines are the same guessing that you are speaking of small block Chevy engines. The only difference is the 400 has a larger bore and a longer stroke. The remainder such as heads, cams, carbs etc. are peripherals which can be interchanged readily. All else being equal, the larger engine will make the most power. You could of course hop up a 350 so that it would make more power than a certain 400 but you could then hop up the 400 so that it would make more power than the 350. As I said, All else being equal, the larger engine will make the most power. There is no magic to a 4 ” bore or a 3.48″ stroke or a 5.7″ rod. None whatsoever.

Q: normal water temp on 350 engine?
what is the normal water temperature for a 1970 350 engine? I know these run hotter than other engines but this one goes up to 220-225, when idleing but drops to about 200-215 when driving.
Cooling system has been flushed many times and water circulates well.
Engine is in a 86 Camaro z28. Water pump, radiator, and shroud are new, has a machanical fan.
Ok, the radiator is NEW, the thermostat is NEW, and the water temp gauge is NEW, aftermarket mechanical one and is in the head where the original sensor went.
A: Dear 350-
You are still running a little too hot.
Here is a couple of things I learned working for GM.
The larger the radiator the better. The idea is to remove as much heat from the coolant as possible. Normally if you are building the engine for a Custom Rod, you might want to consider a 3 or 4 core radiator. This gives you the extra cooling capacity you are going to need when you decide to go out and play.
Here is how I learned it.
Take a look at a vehicle with a towing package, (for example),
a 2500 or 3500 series truck.
These trucks are equipped with large capacity cooling systems. This is good for the coolant, but you need to consider the removal of additional heat through a couple of other items.
Consider adding an external oil cooler to your engine. This not only adds oil capacity, but the radiator that it comes with also removes engine heat just like the radiator for your coolant. Several aftermarket kits are available through you local speed shop.
Also consider adding an external transmission oil cooler to your system if you are running an automatic. I reccommend against using the one that is built into the stock radiator from GM. This one just forces your radiator to work extra hard, and the stock cooling fan will just barely keep up with the heat exchange demand.
Consider adding an extra pusher fan to the front side of the radiator after adding these two additional coolers. The fans are normally spliced into a Thermal Switch located on either the engine block or the Thermostat housing.
Be sure to purchase a 185F degree thermostat. This will allow it to open a little on the early side and get the coolant moving through the entire system.
Lastly. You need to find a Low Pressure/High Volume water pump. These are available from Eidelbrock. They are not cheap. Stay away from the High Pressure pumps. Higher pressure does not equal more coolant flow, it equals blown freeze plugs and failing head gaskets.
Mix your coolant 50/50 and use Distilled Water in the coolant mix. This prevents electrolsis from starting between the dis-similar metals in the system, (Aluminum Radiator, Brass Heater Core and Cast Iron Block and Cylinder Heads). It also helps prevent rust and scale from starting in a freshly built engine. Also add 1/4 cup of canola oil to the mix. This will seal the block and heads and help the coolant work more efficently. Another material called “Water Wetter” is also available if you prefer using that.
You may also consider going entirely with electical fans in the whole system. These kits are also available from GM Performance Parts, and many other parts catalogs.
Keep in mind that heat is the enemy of engines. The more of it you can remove, the longer your engine will last.
Good Luck

A: I really like the looks of the ‘69 Mustang Boss 429. It is a very fast car! It blows the doors off everything on the road.
Q: OKAY FINALLY I FOUND IT TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK?
after searching online every where i finally found a (TRUE DUAL EXAUST SYSTEM) for my 1995 Z28 Camaro i didn’t think anyone made one and all people would tell me is that you can’t do a (TRUE DUAL EXAUST SYSTEM) for
(4th Gen F-Bodies 1993-2002) but i guess i did here it is——-> http://www.jcwhitney.com/HEARTTHROB-DUAL-EXHAUST-SYSTEMS-FOR-LONG-TUBE-HEADERS/GP_2006349_N_111+1995+200728444+600015738_10101.jcw
im more than likely gonna get because the stock exaust setup for the 3rd and 4th Gen Camaros is shitty the single muffler in the back by the fuel tank but it has 2-exit pipes way too restrictive even if you go with aftermarket muffler and a X or Y Pipe. thats one of the reasons why older 1960’s-1970’s MuscleCars had more Balls was the (TRUE DUAL EXAUST SYSTEMS) they
im gonna get the Turbo Mufflers rather then the glasspack what you think?
but anyways tell me what you think and give me some estimates on how much (HORSEPOWER & TORQUE) you think ille get?
A: You are sadly misinformed. True dual exhaust is not needed. Use
a 3″ system from dynomax or flomaster and go baby go. They fit your
car and you will get all the flow the ls-1 needs. That system you linked to is a junk JC Jipme system. They will work only if you have a vast sorce of welders, benders adapters and luck. Stay away from the
“True dual system intill you know a little more about making horsepower. (flomaster.com). Remember 3″ 2 into 1 into 2 outlet muffler should be good for 500HP. The new LS-1, 2 3 will outrun the 60-70 musclecars without a problem. Quit living in the past. Technology is truly a good thing, the trans crossmember will not allow the left side B pipe to be ran reward without ground clearance issues. You will
neeed to fabricate a passthrough for the left side.
Q: I have a chance possiblt to trade a car for a car only car people and gearheads would understand my dillema! ?
I now have a 1970 Buick GS 350 the origanal high performance 350 is sitting in the corner with needing a complete rebuild. the previous owner did some minor work new weather stripping new headliner put a 1972 Buick Skylark 350 in it and painted the car yellow with a black stripe to clone it into a Buick GSX The trunk has had it it is gone GM A Bodies leaked water down the rear window pillar and rusted out the trunk on most all these type of cars. Its a common repair. The engine rebuild would not be much, The most would be painting it back to its origional Burgandy Mist Color. Okay just recently I found a 1976 Pontiac Can Am
It’s a one year Lemans Custom car only 1100 to 1300 were made they were going to build 5000 but the rear spoiler mold broke and management scraped the project. i haven’t walked around the car completly but have spoken face to face with the owner. The car runs it seems to be in good shape needs new front bucket seat interior, and I Imagine a few other things. With a Battery the GS will drive too. But it’s origional numbers mathing engine needs rebuilding and the car needs painted to bring back to origional. the tempest packs a 400 pontiac Engine a Turbo 400 trans console blah blah. 5000 GS were made with my optioned Buick GS 4000 less were made of the Can Am. It was the only car besides the Trans Am, Corvette, and it was also the first year for the Z28 to return. The Can Am was a Sports car that was baically over looked but Pontiac made it look cool. My question is would you Trade Square The GS for the Can Am? Any and all answers will be read
A: to me, it sounds like the Cam Am is in better condition than your GS. It also sounds like it’s probably worth more overall, so if this guy is agreeing to trade with you square, then i’d say that’s a pretty god damn fair trade.
Q: i need power?
i’ve got a 1970 dodge charger. with the original 383 sadly its the 2 barrel model =( so specifications online says its 290 horsepower. what i’m asking is, if i installed a new intake manifold, cam, 4 barrel 750 cfm carb, lifters, how much would you guys think the hp would get up too? the car is a daily driver, not a show car, or dragster. i just want my daily driver to be one fast s.o.b. but it seems this original 383 with 2BBL sucks. i want to beat an old high school rival with his ‘98 Z28 camaro. but my buddy says his LS1 would beat the living crap out of my charger because i’m much heavier and the LS1 is a performance motor. so, is the only way im gonna be able to beat him is going balls out with pistons, etc.. gonna have to be the ONLY way? or will bolt ons like i mentioned in the beginning work just fine? i dont make very much money at all. and if you could answer my frist part of the question of [if i bought that stuff what kinda power would i be pushing?] thanks a lot
i forgot to add, his Z28 is pretty much stock from the rumors around town. my buddy with a mild integra gsr ran pretty good with him
oops, i forgot to add that i’d get hedman headers with a 3″ exhaust to the rear. so to answer Bruce, basically, like, would i have to get new heads? or what? im kinda confused.. i dont wanna drown the motor with air/fuel. i just need someone to help sum this up for me in simple mans terms.
A: hell yeah, ur definately are going to be able to beat the guy, just change the manifold, cam and carburator, maybe u could even beat him with what u have on already with the 2bbl. or my other suggestion, is cut his fuel lines, lol
