Q: How do you remove key cylinder from a 2000 corvette?
Is there a secret to popping cylinder out of ignition switch? If so how do you remove key cylinder from a 2000 corvette

A: my answer is try to check it out first on auto repair shop be the expert do that..

Q: how much storage space does a 2000 corvette have compared to other cars?
im goin off to college and my mom’s gonna get me a new car (or one $18,000 or less). i found a 2000 corvette in that range, but he complaint is that i wont have enough storage space to pack some of my stuff in it…
does a corvette really have dramatically less space than other cars?

A: No storage space with this car, it isn’t made to haul things, it is made to haul a**.

Q: How much would a early 2000 Corvette cost me a month in payments if I financed the car?
My dream car is a Corvette. However, I want to get one really bad, I know they are expensive. Give me an estimate on how much a month.

A: depends on 3 things

1. your credit rating

2. the cost of the car

3. how well you can bargain

Q: I am deciding between a 2000 Corvette 31000 miles and a 2005 Mustang GT 10000 miles.Is Corvette age an issue?
Both cars are excellant condition and about the same price. The Corvette belongs to a good friend and I know its history. The Mustang is owned by an unknown seller. I prefer the Corvette but am concerned about its age (8 yrs). Should this be a concern?

A: corvette is a high maintaince vehicle, if something goes wrong you will pay twice as much as you would on the stang. but if price isnt an issue get the vette. stangs are generic and everyone has them but the vette is in a league of its own

Q: What is code P0719 H C under 10-PCM on a 2000 Corvette?
the engine light on my 2000 Corvette just came on. I ran the codes and the only one with a C after the H is the P0719. I understand that the H means that it is a previous code.

A: tcc or brake switch fault.ck ign 1 fuse.

Q: I have a 2000 corvette. How do I access the the cable on the selector end of the automatic transmission?
I just want to know if I access it from the top or bottom?

A: why did you buy a vette with an automatic tranny?

Q: How do I get white line highway striping paint off the body of my 2000 Corvette without damaging the finish?
I’m not sure if regular “over the counter” bug and tar remover will damage a fiberglas body or finish.

A: In the body shop we wet a towel with lacquer thinner and work it in to the area to soften it.Then gently scrape it with the finger nail or if it’s really bad then use a plastic scraper.Milder solvents have no affect on that type of paint.Lacquer thinner sounds brutal, but it won’t attack the urethane clear on your Vette. It takes patience and time to lift each clump away but softened with solvent it will come off.

Q: Why are my left rear brake lights not working on my 2000 corvette?
The right side brakes are fine. I replaced the bulbs so I know that it isn’t the bulbs.
I don’t know if right and left sides have different fuses because I can’t read the legend/map of the fuse box.
Are there any options besides the bulb and fuses?
I don’t wanna take it to GM as I know they will charge me about $300 for a $5 job….Thanks

A: you are are the right track by changing the bulbs and checking fuses but there will only be one fuse for your rear brake lights. your problemm is most likely a short in the wiressomewheree between your signal and the lights themselvess. there could even be a short within the signal on your steering column.

Q: I am trying to replace the front turn signal bulbs on a 2000 corvette, how do I access them?
I have worked on quite a few vehicles. It just appears that you might have to remove the headlight assembly? I just want to know an easier way.

A: You have to raise the vehicle a little. Remove the front bumper lower closeout panel.Pull the brake caliper cooling duct out of the way and reposition it. Now you can get to the turn signal socket.

Q: Where is the solenoid in a 2000 corvette?
My vette won’t start and isn’t even clicking. The battery is charged so I thought it might be the solenoid. I was told that it may be sticking and I should give it a whack to unstick it.

A: GM puts their solenoid on the top of the starter.

Q: I own a 2000 Corvette and need advice on Changing the Throttle Body to a Larger mm. ?
I own a 2000 Corvette LS1 and am thinking about replacing the stock Throttle Body with a 80mm or 90mm Throttle Body. I have heard good things and bad things and am not sure what to believe. Some say ill get substancila air flow and increase my HP and others say ill lose low end tourque and velocity and that that much of a mm is unnessessary. Also will this effect my cars drivability, I use this car as a daily driver and dont want to mess up throttle response or idle.???? HELP!!!!!!!

A: My father is a Corvette collector and mechanic/restorer, he says to go with Hambone’s advice. There is no sense in replacing the stock throttle body unless you are willing to shell out some money for other modifications. And, if you are it is best to do it all at the same time. Basically, changing to a larger mm will have little effect and be a waste of money (w/o the other mods). His advice wait until you have about $2500 to put into it..or buy the parts one at a time and put them back, and do all the mods at the same time. He recommends borla stinger exhaust system with crossover pipes and the shorty for the manifold. He says to get a new shift eliminator, those run less than $50 and you will need one. I hope this makes sense, I am trying to relay the info the best I can, it is all greek to me.

BTW…he says dodgeman don’t have a clue as to what the heck he is talking about. Not my words…

Q: What would the insurance be on a 2000 corvette?
Just an estimate on one around that year model.

A: I would like to suggest you get as much information as you could before taking action, here http://www.insuranceidea.info/free-insurance.htm is a good place for that.

Q: Where can I find a 2000 corvette multi function brake switch or module?
My left brake lights don’t work and my GM diagnostic told me I needed a new multi function swtch for the brake lights but I can’t seem to find one except from GM and they wanna charge me $600 to install it. No way! I would prefer to buy it myself , instead of the dealership 500% markup, plug it in myself.
Thanks

A: Dealers do not mark up the price of parts. The price of a part from an automanufacturer is the same no matter what dealership you buy it from. If the dealership says that a part (not labor to install, just the part) is $400… that means that it is $400 no matter what dealership you buy it from in the country.

The install sucks because the airbag and steering wheel must be removed and part of the steering column must be removed. Unless you know how to remove and install airbags, this is not a job for you.

If you want a used one, check out www.car-part.com They probably will only be sold with the complete steering column though, but see what is available in your area

Q: I have a 2000 Corvette. The memory for the power seat does not work. Sensors replaced, wires checked, nothing.
seat moves 6 ways however the memory does not hold. Seat has to be adjusted every time I enter the car. Tried everything including going back to dealer several times, but they can’t find a fix either.

A: Did you consider replacing the seat itself?

Q: Anything wrong with letting my g/f drive my 2000 corvette?
She drives her car (nissan altima 2006) pretty good but aggressive
She has been my g/f now for 2 months. And we are very intimate.

A: its your car dude. just tell her keep it under 60 and shell keep it under 100
