Q: What the mpg for a 1971 Dodge Charger with a v8?
I’m interested in buying a 1971 Charger, and was just wondering what the mpg is since it’s a classic muscle car. Thanks!
A: it depends on which engine option it has in it you didn’t give us much to work with on this one, they wa considered to be performance cars for that years so the mileage isn’t going to be that much,if you buy one you won’t be buying it for fuel mileage, you,ll be buying it for the looks and for what it is,good luck.
Q: I have a 1971 charger with a 318 automatic i need help?
im a college student and live on campus, and i am having a blast restoring/mod my 1971 charger. the problem is that i don’t wont to let the actual shop do all the work. but there is no garage for students use. so could someone list a couple things i could do with the restoration without the needs of a garage? serious answers only please.
A: there’s not hardly anything you could do to it without the use of at least an indoor space to work in ,especially on the body work, and engine work, like the above answer told you ,you might can rent a space to work in,its almost impossible to do any kind of work out side on a car and expect to get good results from it,good luck with it.
Q: How much can a 1971 Dodge Charger sell for?
I currently have a 1971 Dodge Charger 383 automatic. It has 80-90K original miles on it. Still in good running cond. Some rust spots and some dullness in paint. What starting price should I list the car for?
A: about 10-15 thousand right now,the reason it will sell good is that its in running condition, most of those you find are basically basket cases, and need fully restored,i seen one go off e-bay and it brought 8 thousand and it didn’t even run,but it was all there,id start out asking at least 14-15 for it and that gives you room to lower the price for a guaranteed sale on it,there’s plenty of people looking for those right now so selling it wont be a problem, good luck with it.
Q: Where to find a 1971 Dodge Charger Grille?
Does anyone know of a place to get original or stock replacement grilles for a 1971 dodge charger super bee? I think all models had the same grille, so for any charger of 1971?
A: that’s a good pace to deal with that johny told you about, i can verify that they do good work, good luck.

Q: I need help with a 1971 Dodge Charger 318 automatic?
I’m currently restoring a 1971 Dodge Charger. I had the car cranking the other day but it wouldn’t turn over. Now the car won’t even crank. I replaced the battery, battery cables and the starter but when i turn the key nothing happens. however, there is a popping noise that comes from the distributor ( to me it sounds like it’s trying to fire) and the lights dim. so I don’t think it’s the ignition switch. Im stuck and would greatly appreciate some help. thanks
A: you got a book, trust my words, goto the start relay.check it thoroughly
Q: how much should i pay for a full restoration on my 1971 dodge charger?
how much if i do it myself or if i pay someone to do it??and i do mean full restoration…please if you can help thatl be awsome!
A: the price of getting one restored is going to be based on the condition its in now,and we cant determine that without knowing what all it needs done and what all needs to be replaced,i can tell you this we just spent around 25 grand on a 70 model challenger to restore it,the more usable parts you have the less the restoration will cost regardless of who does it,we had some of our work done and did the rest our self, and we still got around 25 grand in to it,but it looks as good today as the day it rolled off the show room floor, good luck.
Q: How do I keep chipmunks out of my 1971 dodge charger?
What is the best way to keep chipmunks, squirrels, and mice out of a car parked outside? It is just parked at the moment…not running. The engine is in my garage right now…
A: how are they getting in in the first place ?
try spreading mothballs around the inside of the car.
btw….have you ever smelled mothballs ?
hard to get thier little legs apart eh ?
Q: where can i find the metal parts for a 1971 dodge charger?

A: http://autometaldirect.com/, http://autobodyspecialt.com/, http://shermanparts.com/ are three you can try. I’ve been reading good stuff about AMD lately. Don’t know if any of them have what you need, but it’s a start.

prefferably new or rebuilt…….looking for a 440 or a 383 magnum thankS!

Q: whats the difference between a 1971 charger and 1971 charger rt?
A: When you say “1971 Charger” do you mean the base Charger? Or the Charger 500? Charger SE? Certainly not the Charger Super Bee, right?
The R/T came standard with the 440-4 putting out 370 hp. Optional was the 440 Six Pack at 385 hp and the 426 Hemi. This was the first year of this generation Charger, and the last year of the R/T.
Meanwhile, assuming the other car you’re talking about is a base Charger, it was available as a coupe or hardtop, and the standard engine was either the Slant Six or the 318 V-8. It was possible to equip these cars with performance motors, but the biggest available was the 383-4 rated at 300 hp (the SE could receive the 440-4, though). The hood was flat – no hood scoop or louvers – and the doors didn’t have those fake scoops like on the R/T. Taillights were also different, as only the R/T, 500, and Super Bees with rubber bumpers came with louvered taillights.
In sum, one’s the regular passenger car version while the other is the top performance version.
Q: 1971 charger, 383 magnum carburetor?
What was the stock carburetor for a 1971 Dodge Charger Super Bee with a 383 Magnum engine in it?
and is it a 2 barrel or 4 barrel carb? I know I have a holley in there now, but I dont know if it’s stock or the product number
A: if it has a holley on it right now its not stock, it would have came with a carter afb on it,and those was good carbs when they was right,i don’t have the number handy on this computer but a true super bee came with 4 barrel carburetor on it,good luck.
Q: how many miles per gallon does a 1971 dodge charger with a 318 engine have?
A: in real life reality about 15-18 miles to the gallon,my brother in law owns one and i have drove it enough to know the mileage on it,good luck.
Q: 1971 charger/ dodge 318?
my 1971 charger has sat dormantly for at least 15 years. could someone list exactly the steps i would need to take to hand start as well as prepare the engine for a start up, so that i could find out whether the engine is of some good. also im in college and wanna know any thing i could buy that could prevent burglary of my dormant charger. i thought about removing a wheel. but i really need serious answers. and i also got a quote for an engine and tranny rebuild, the mechanic said he could rebuild my engine and transmission for 3800 with a 3 year warranty. is that a good price????
A: 1. Flush out all the fuel lines, and replace the fuel pump, it is most likely DEAD.
2. Take a 1 and 1/4 inch socket, and an extension, and put it on the Harmonic balancer bolt. Try to turn the engine; if it turns, then it will likely start.
OPTIONAL: Remove the distributor, and the gear beneath it, and buy an “oil pump priming rod”. Stick it down into the hole until it catches the oil pump, chuck the other end into any 3/8 drill, and spin it up good, to circulate the NEW oil that you put in it before you did this!(LOL)
3. Remove all the Spark plugs, add just a squirt of Marvel Mystery oil to each cylinder, and replace the plugs.
4. Spray some starting fluid into the carburetor, and crank the engine.
Just because it has sat for 15 years, does not imply that it has somehow, “locked up”. if the motor had oil in it As far as burglary of it, trust me on this one- ain’t too many thieves out here gonna want anything that that car is likely to have in it (GOOD LUCK trying to put a modern DIN-style radio in the dash!). If you are worried about someone stealing the whole car, there also ain’t too many folks left who would know how to even do that; all of the ignition is self-contained in the upper column. There is NO ROD running to an ignition switch in that car; the only way to steal it is either to hammer out the lock with a “dent puller” (which auto thieves do NOT carry around anymore!), or to almost completely disassemble the column.
$3800? First you need to determine if the engine actually needs to be rebuilt; most 318’s of that vintage were good for at least 250,000 (with proper care). Now, that 904 trans you have might be an issue; If you drop the pan, and see “black stuff”, it’s well on it’s way out- and you SURELY want to rebuild it. if you don’t see it, or so not smell, “burnt” odors, then just service it and see what happens.
Q: how much can i get a 1971 charger rt?

A: Probably around 5,000.00…Check out your local craigs list….
